Located in the Weald of Kent, Pluckley is a traditional village with a small post-office & grocery shop in one, butcher, church, school and pub clustered around the main street. It’s not just for any reason that Pluckley has been chosen as a location to film the famous series ‘Darling Buds of May’. Take a walk and discover it’s charming cottages with the typical round-arched Pluckley windows, which are supposed to bring luck! Oast houses and Tudor styled homes are dotted around the countryside with its woodlands, orchards and rolling hills. Take advantage of the many local footpaths, one starting literally around the corner of our field and relax and unwind while walking through Kent's beautiful landscape.
The Dering Woods is another lovely area for a peaceful woodland walk. It covers 308 acres and most of it is classed as ancient woodland.
Did you know that Pluckley has been named the most haunted village in England? Although we have never managed to spot one, it is said there have appeared up to twelve ghosts at various locations and buildings around the village such as Fright Corner, the Screaming Woods, St. Nicholas’ Church and The Black Horse Inn.
Do you need some ingredients for your morning fry up? Pluckley Farm Shop is located only a few minutes walking from Gooseberry Field and well worth a visit. The farm shop has a fantastic selection of local produce, ranging from cheese, vegetables, preserves, meat, ice cream, home made pies, jam, soap and so much more. Recently the farm shop has been nominated for the Taste of Kent award.
