Gooseberry Field is a charming five-acre luxury camping site in the beautiful Kent countryside. With south facing views that extend for miles over the ‘haunted’ Dering Woods, we are often treated to some of the most stunning sunsets, which turn the sky all shades of gorgeous reds and pinks.
Established hedgerow and 200-year-old Oak trees surround the glamping site itself, which creates a sense of cosy security and our guests especially those with young children often comment how lovely it is being able to relax whilst their children play freely around our spacious field knowing they are safely enclosed within its boundaries.
As you enter Gooseberry Field a gravel track leads you nicely passed our orchard, which was planted by John & Kerstin in 2017 with a wide variety of apple, pear and plum trees. To the left of the track you will find the pig field, which is used each year to rear rare breed pigs and just before you reach the camping meadow is our very own vineyard.
Set within the camping meadow are eight spaciously pitched glamping bell tents, each with its own picnic table, deck chairs, wine caddy and individual fire pit & BBQ.
On either side of the meadow we have a wood-fired hot tub for an added touch of luxury and relaxation and a central fire pit which is often used when we host exclusive group bookings or retreats and it is the perfect place to come together around a warm camp fire under the stars.
At the top of the track is a turning circle, which also doubles up perfectly as a petangue circle - also known as French Boules. A communal terrace with sheltered food prep area is the heart of the glamping field where our guests can relax with a glass of wine or make use of our Argentinian Grill and traditional hot smoker. It is also home to our wood-fired pizza oven, herb garden, washing up facilities and outdoor fridge. Next to the terrace is ‘The Barn’ fitted with solar panels and our facilities block with a flushing toilet and x2 spacious hot showers with plenty of room for an adult and two children. The Barn is a stylish newly renovated space and comes to good use especially when it rains. There are 4 long tables with chairs, some games and plenty of electricity sockets in case of the need to charge devices.
With plans of one day being self-sufficient and taking active steps each year towards sustainable living you will also find located within the glamping site, a recycling area, vegetable garden and poly tunnel, chickens and two eco toilets.
Gooseberry Field Glamping has a strict no smoking and no drug policy and for the comfort of all guests and our neighbours we request that all noise is reduced to quiet chit chat after 21:00 each evening.
Relaxing in our complimentary wood-fired hot tub is often described as one of the highlights of their stay for many of our guests and is available to use from 15:30 - 21:00 on Wednesdays and Saturdays (for Health & Safety and for the comfort of all guests the shared hot tub is not suitable for children aged 9 or under).
In addition to the shared hot tub and new for 2019 is a beautifully converted hops carriage that John has lovingly transformed into a unique, stylish wood-fired hot tub, which is now available for private bookings. Perfect for anyone wanting a extra special treat during their stay.
Between 18:30 and 20:30 on Wednesdays and Saturdays is pizza night at Gooseberry Field and we welcome guests to join us on the terrace for some pizza baking fun. Simply bring along your ingredients and store in the fridge until you are ready to get making or pre-order a pizza pack upon booking. There’s always a great atmosphere with guests often sharing excess ingredients, a touch of pizza envy, friendly chitchat and lots of fun had by all who want to join. Don't worry about burning your pizza, as we will be there to manage the oven and show you how its all done.
Our 5-acre field with eight luxury glamping bell tents dotted around is the perfect space to relax with a book with amazing views over the Kent countryside or a game of rounders or two whilsts the little ones can enjoy the freedom of playing in the great outdoors and making new friends.
Go and explore and you will find fruit bushes, a vineyard, a mini orchard, a wild flower meadow, chickens, vegetable gardens and pigs.
At the end of our 5-acre glamping site you will find our spacious pig field and pigsty, which is home each summer to two Rare Breed pigs. As part of sustainable living it is important to us to have access to healthy honest meat of which we know where its from and know that the animals have been treated well and with respect.
We like to be honest with our guests and our reasons for keeping pigs but are also very discreet about this topic especially around children who are yet to discover where meat comes from. Our pigs are treated to our windfall apples and left over vegetables and we welcome kids and grown ups a like to join us each morning to help with their morning feed.
Located at the opposite end of the site is our chicken coop which is home to five egg laying hens. Children simply love going to visit them each day and check for freshly laid eggs. We do ask that all children are accompanied by an adult when visiting any of the animals we have on site.
At Gooseberry Field Glamping we know how important the facilities are to our guests and we pride ourselves on the cleanliness of all our toilets and showers. After all what's the point of glamping if the facilities aren't up to scratch? Our facilities include two spacious showers with hot and cold water and plenty of space for a parent and two children without having to worry about how to keep clothes dry. There’s also a separate flushing loo with hand basin and on the opposite side of the field we have two eco composting toilets which are all checked several times a day to ensure everything is pristine and in tip top condition!
'The Barn’ is our former workshop and some of our previous guests might remember it being used to house the tractor. In 2018 we transformed it into a stylish dinning space with lots of atmosphere and is now used to host Gooseberry Field Supper Club collaborations and charity events whilst also creating shelter for our glamping guests to use when rain tries to stop play.
‘The Barn’ is available to use from 07:30 till 22:00 each day.
